Free. No account. The file stays on your device.

Mark up a PDF the way you would on paper: highlight the important lines, underline, strike text out, draw with a pen, drop a note, type a comment or paste a picture. An eraser undoes what you do not want.

The marked-up copy is saved with the annotations drawn into the pages, so it looks the same in every reader and on paper. The original stays as it was.

How it works

  1. Tap Open a PDF to annotate and choose the file.
  2. Open the markup bar and pick highlight, underline, strike, pen, note, text or picture.
  3. Save a copy with the markup, or share it straight from the viewer.

Questions

Can I remove an annotation later?

Use the eraser before saving. After saving, the markup is part of the page, so keep the original if you may need it again.

Does highlighting work on scanned PDFs?

The pen, notes and text work on any page. Text highlighting needs a text layer: run OCR on a scan first.

Can I annotate on a phone?

Yes. The tools are made for touch, with pinch zoom to get the stroke exactly where you want it.
